Many changes are expected in 2027 related to Medicare Advantage and Part D drug plans:

  • Current Advantage plan may have different copays, different dental/vision allowances, prescription copays and drug formulary may change
  • Current Advantage plan may be discontinued (terminated)
  • Current Advantage plan Carrier (Insurance company) may pull out of your zip code all together
  • Part D drug plan monthly premium may increase, copays and drug formulary may change
  • VERY IMPORTANT TO READ YOUR ANOC (ANNUAL NOTICE OF CHANGE) LETTER – arrives late September / early October 2026
  • You can shop for a new Medicare Advantage plan during Annual Enrollment (October 15th – December 7th) – new plan will be Effective January 1, 2027
  • You can switch back to Original Medicare (Part A and Part B with the government) and shop for a Medicare Supplement (aka Medigap) plan and a Part D prescription drug plan
  • If your Advantage plan was discontinued (terminated) you will be eligible for a federal “guarantee issue” right to get a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan – this means NO Medicare Underwriting to be approved by a Medigap plan.
  • You can always shop for a less expensive Part D (Stand-alone) Prescription Drug plan monthly premium
